Electrical machine electronics (EME)
The electrical machine electronics (EME) are power electronics, which are housed in an aluminium housing.
The following components are located in the aluminium housing:
- Control unit of the electrical machine electronics (EME)
- DC/DC converter
- Inverter (inverter and rectifier)
- Charging electronics
The entire aluminium housing is designated as the electrical machine electronics (EME). In electric vehicles, the electrical machine electronics (EME) are fitted to the electrical machine.
Attention!
During Service work, the electrical machine electronics (EME) and the electrical machine can be replaced separately. To do so, the rear axle must first be removed with the unit comprising the electrical machine and the electrical machine electronics (EME). The electrical machine and electrical machine electronics (EME) must then disconnected.
The aluminium housing of the electrical machine electronics (EME) must never be opened in a Service workshop.
For hybrid cars (PHEV), the electrical machine electronics (EME) are delivered separated from the electrical machine and are therefore not calibrated to the electrical machine at the point of delivery.
