Ground lights

The ground lights are integrated in the outer door handle of the door. The ground lights serve to find the vehicle and illuminate the surrounding area of doors prior to opening.

The ID transmitter must be located on the outside, near the corresponding operating point. The ID transmitter must be detected and authenticated by the vehicle.

When the door is unlocked using the ID transmitter, the ground lights switch on. The ground lights also switch on when a door is opened. The Body Domain Controller (BDC) switches the ground lights on at a dimmed level or off. Beginning at terminal 15 on, the ground lights are no longer activated.

The ground lights switch off at most 20 seconds after the door is closed automatically.
