SAS: Control unit, optional equipment system
Many system functions in the SAS control unit for the driver assistance are video-based. For this reason, the SAS control unit is connected with the KAFAS control unit via a separate CAN bus. KAFAS stands for: camera-based driver support systems.
The light points, light colors and light intensities picked up by the video camera in the interior mirror are evaluated by the KAFAS control unit.
The SAS control unit is also connected to the FlexRay.
There is a 26-pin plug connection on the SAS control unit.
As of terminal 15N ON, the following system functions of the optional equipment system are available:
- Avoidance of collisions and preventative pedestrian protection
- Collision warning
- Top speed limitation
- Cruise control with brake intervention
- Video-supported active cruise control with Stop & Go function
- Parking Maneuvering Assistant with longitudinal and lateral guidance
- Traffic jam assistant
- Pro-Active Driving Assistant
- Hill Descent Control
