Engine compartment temperature sensor and engine compartment temperature sensor 2: Notes

Depending on the series, the electrical machine is located in the rear engine compartment and for the optional equipment, the Range Extender of the 2-cylinder gasoline engine. This results in heat in the rear engine compartment which is discharged by an electric fan.

The engine compartment temperature sensor and the engine compartment temperature sensor 2 monitor the temperature in the engine compartment.

Using the input signals of the temperature sensors (engine compartment temperature sensor and the engine compartment temperature sensor 2), the EDME control unit (Electrical Digital Motor Electronics) or the DME defines the time at which the electric fan is switched on.

NOTE: Depending on the series and the optional equipment, either one temperature sensor or two temperature sensors are fitted.
  • I01: Engine compartment temperature sensor and engine compartment temperature sensor 2 only in the case of optional equipment Range Extender
  • I12: Engine compartment temperature sensor

Observe the wiring diagram in the diagnosis!

NOTE: Depending on the series, the temperature sensor is connected to various control units.

Example:

  • I01: Connection to the EDME (Electrical Digital Motor Electronics)
  • I12 Connection to the DME

Observe the wiring diagram in the diagnosis!

NOTE: The installation location is series-dependent. Note the installation location via the hotspot on the wiring diagram in diagnosis.
