ACSM: Crash Safety Module
The Crash Safety Module (ACSM) is the control unit for the passive safety system. The following sensors are now integrated into the ACSM control unit of the current generation:
- Longitudinal acceleration sensors
- Lateral acceleration sensors
- Vertical acceleration sensor
The signals of the acceleration sensors are used to calculate the yaw rate, the pitch rate and the roll rate. The DSC requires these signals as important control variables in terms of driving stability. The ACSM control unit emits the signals on the FlexRay.
| Item | Explanation |
|---|---|
| 1 | Crash Safety Module (ACSM) |
| 2 | Connector chamber, 104-pin |
| 3 | Connector chamber, 20-pin |
The sensor signals refer primarily to the co-ordinates of the sensor housing. The sensor signal values depend on the installation position. However, the driving stability control needs these variables related to the co-ordinate system of the vehicle. The ACSM control unit converts the values accordingly (definition of the zero point).
