41 00... Preparation Of Steel Components For Bonding

Surfaces of components made from steel have to be specially prepared to optimize adhesion of the adhesive.

Grind bonding surfaces to a metallic bright-finish.

Clean bonding surfaces with cleaning agent R1 and allow to dry.

Apply K1 adhesive thinly to the bonding surface. A sealed surface must be produced.

Harden adhesive K1 at room temperature or with a radiant heater.

IMPORTANT: When using radiant heaters, make sure that the object temperature does not exceed 85 °C. Excessively high temperatures will destroy the adhesive.

1 h at an object temperature of 60 °C.

0.5 h at an object temperature of 85 °C.

Check the degree of hardness of the adhesive with a fingernail.

When the adhesive can no longer be pressed in with a finger nail, the component can be bonded with adhesive K2.
