- Damaged/modified special tools must not be used!
- No changes or modifications may be made to the special tools!
- Keep special tools dry, clean and free of grease.
IMPORTANT:
Before lifting the engine, check the lifting lugs for damage (cracks) and to ensure they are seated securely.
NOTE:
- NUMBERING SYSTEM FOR SPECIAL TOOLS has been re-encoded.
IMPORTANT:
Special tool 00 6 100
must not be fitted when cross-member (1) is installed!
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Secure the engine compartment lid in the service position. See 51 00... SERVICE POSITION OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID .
- Remove trim panel for engine compartment lid at side. See 51 76 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID SEAL LOCATOR .
- Remove underbody protection at front and rear. See 51 47 490 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION and 51 47 491 REMOVING REFITTING/REPLACING REAR ENGINE UNDERCOVER .
- Remove stiffening plate . See applicable procedure for drivetrain configuration: 31 11 040 REMOVE AND INSTALL/REPLACE STIFFENING PLATE (ALL-WHEEL DRIVE) , 31 11 040 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING STIFFENING PLATE or 31 11 040 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING STIFFENING PLATE (M6) .
Completion of cross-member 00 6 100 with adapters 00 6 130
T-pieces 2 318 635 and facings 00 6 050.
NOTE:
Contact points (1) for special tool 00 6 050 are pictured.
IMPORTANT:
Risk of damage!
Position transverse member 00 6 100 with a 2nd person helping on contact points ().
WARNING:
Danger of injury!
Align all struts and feet.
Tighten down all screws and nuts on cross-member 00 6 100 .
Attach hook (1) of engine lifting beam in lifting eye.
Ensure that supports 00 6 050/53 and 00 6 050/52 are correctly seated.
Slightly pretension the spindle of the engine support beams.
IMPORTANT:
Avoid a change of engine position in the transverse or longitudinal direction.
Always make sure there is sufficient clearance between the engine (or its add-on parts) and the body.

Release screws (1) of engine mount.
Tightening torque 22 11 1AZ .
Raise engine approx. 10 mm with cross member.
