6312... US version: Remove the horizontal blocking before adjusting the headlight

Special tools required: 

• 23 0 490

Check: 

Check the adjustment screw for horizontal adjustment for blockage (see illustration. If necessary, refer to HEADLIGHT ADJUSTMENT  for the exact positioning of the adjustment screws.)

Desired state: 

The adjustment screw for horizontal adjustment must be blocked with a plug (1) (schematic illustration)

Result: 

The plug (1) is installed in the adjustment screw for horizontal adjustment (schematic illustration)

The plug (1) shows damages/deformations on the ribs/borings  which point to possible manipulations of the headlight adjustment.

Measure: 

Remove the blocking from the adjustment screw for horizontal adjustment.

To prevent damages to the vehicle, fix the impact weight (2) of the special tool 23 0 490 by applying adhesive tape (1) near the handle.

Turn the special tools into the 23 0 490 plugs and remove the adjusting screw with a pulling motion (schematic illustration).

Result: 

The plug (1) is installed in the adjusting screw for horizontal adjustment and show no damages/deformations  which point to possible manipulations of the headlight adjustment (schematic illustration).

Measure: 

No check and/or adjustment of the horizontal adjustment is necessary.
