Tailgate pushbutton, passenger compartment

The interior tailgate button can be used to open the tailgate if the vehicle is unlocked and stationary. The front electronic module (FEM) is the master control unit. In other words, the front electronic module issues the enable for opening the tailgate.

The tailgate opens when the tailgate button is pressed. The interior tailgate button is directly connected to the front electronic module (FEM). The front electronic module outputs the request as a message on a bus connection to the rear electronic module (REM). The rear electronic module assumes the task of activating the central locking drive in the tailgate.

If all the preconditions for unlocking are in place, the rear electronic module (REM) activates the DC motor of the release drive in the tailgate lock. This trips unlocking of the rear lid lock. Depending on the vehicle equipment, the tailgate opens due to spring force or electrically.
