System functions
Measurement of the parking space is performed automatically when driving past at speeds of up to 35 km/h. Maximum distance to the row of parked vehicles: 1.5 meter
After the function has been enabled, the CID shows the driver whenever the vehicle drives past a suitable parking space. After starting the parking operation: The driver is instructed by the CID when to reverse, when to brake and when to drive forwards. The parking operation can be performed in one or more sections. The parking operation will be interrupted in the following cases:
- Maximum driving speed of 10 km/h during parking is exceeded
- Incorrect selection of the turn indicator light (e.g. left instead of right)
- Risk of collision with objects while parking (also on the opposite side)
- Steering angle by the driver
- A door being opened
- Incorrect gear selection
- DSC detects slip
Every one of these reasons for termination will be documented in the fault memory of the PMA control unit with an entry. This is therefore not a system fault but instead an incorrect operation by the driver. After termination, the system checks to find out if the parking operation can be resumed. If necessary, the driver can take charge of the parking operation personally.
