Navigation Professional with Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI)
Term definition!
RTTI: Real Time Traffic Information
TMC: Traffic Message Channel
NOTE:
Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI)
is available in the vehicle only after prior registration via Connecteddrive. Check the vehicle information in the ConnectedDrive Service Cockpit to determine whether or not the vehicle is enabled. The ConnectedDrive Service Cockpit is integrated in the BMW Aftersales Assistance Portal (ASAP). The BMW Aftersales Assistance Portal can be accessed via S-Gate.
The display of Real Time Traffic Information is basically dependent on the data quality of the service provider INRIX.
For more information about ConnectedDrive, visit the official website: http://www.bmw.com/connecteddrive

Whether TMC or RTTI traffic information is used is displayed in the map view in the lower status box. RTTI is ready approx. 2 min after starting the headunit and is updated every 3 minutes.
The complete message report is available within a radius of 30 km and on roadways and main roads within a radius of 100 km.
The traffic flow is shown using different colored marks:
- Green = Flowing traffic (at recommended speed)
- Yellow = Dense traffic (less than 50 % of the recommended speed)
- Orange = Slow-moving traffic (less than 25 % of the recommended speed)
- Red = Traffic jam (less than 12.5 % of the recommended speed)
Possible restrictions:
- In a perspective map view, the route markings (red, orange, yellow, green) are not shown for certain sections or have interruptions in the case of a scale smaller or equal to 500 m.
- RTTI shows a traffic jam or free-moving traffic which in reality does not exist. The navigation system may thereby perform incorrectly when calculating a possible diversion.
- Traffic flow indicators (traffic info symbol) may be missing on short sections of national highways or roadways in certain scales. The problem may arise if the road category changes and this is no longer displayed in the appropriate scale.
- In the event of a traffic-related top speed limitation of e.g. 80 km/h (instead of 120 km/h), a yellow traffic flow indicator is not necessarily displayed.
- If the vehicle currently has no cellular radio reception, there is therefore no RTTI reception and the navigation system uses TMC.
- RTTI traffic information does not necessarily have to correspond to the traffic information from the radio.
- In the vehicle is driven across a border from a country with RTTI into a country with TMC, RTTI indicators on the traffic flow are displayed only up to the respective border.
NOTE:
Technical modifications may be introduced at any time. Observe model-specific service information and any applicable service bulletins for updates or changes.
