Installing the complete exhaust system

CAUTION: Component with heavy weight.
Injury hazard!

Note component's center of gravity.
Support component using a jack.
Secure component against falling off the jack.

CAUTION: Heavy component.
Heavy components can lead to injury or damage.

Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.

NOTE: Mount the exhaust system in a de-energized state, following the tightening sequence from the rear silencer towards the exhaust manifold.

NOTE: Schematic diagram is for example purposes. Some parts may differ in certain details.

Check all the rubber mounts (1) of the exhaust system for damage.

Replaced damaged rubber mounts.

Tighten the nuts (1) on the rear silencer (2).

Install the exhaust system with the assistance of a second person and connect to the diesel particulate filter.
If necessary, replace clamp (1).
Parts: Clamp
Tighten clamp (1).

Install the reinforcement plate (1).
Tighten screws (arrows).

Install the underbody protection (1).
Tighten screws (arrows).

TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

Underbody protection/underbody panelling on body
Screws do not have a metric thread	3 Nm
M6 screw	8.8 Nm
Nut	2.5 Nm
