Remove the Front Electronic Module (FEM)
Prerequisite
- Ignition is switched off.
WARNING:
Working on 12 V electrical system.
Risk of short circuits! Risk of fire!

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

Preliminary work
- Refer to DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY EARTH LEAD .
- Refer to REMOVING FRONT ENTRANCE COVER STRIP .
- Refer to REMOVING THE BOTTOM LEFT INSTRUMENT PANEL TRIM .
- Refer to REMOVING THE SIDE TRIM PANEL IN THE FOOTWELL AT THE RIGHT-HAND A-PILLAR .
- Unscrew the bolt (1)
and remove the cover (2).
- Loosen the lock (1) in the direction of the arrow.
- Unlock the positive battery cable connector (2) at the top in the direction of the arrow.
- Remove the positive battery cable (2).
- Unlock and disconnect all plug connections (1).
- Unscrew the bolt (2) and remove the front electronic module (FEM) (3).
