General notes

The expansion tank is located under the bonnet on the left in the direction of travel. There is no electrical level sensor installed in the expansion tank.

Service should, however, note the following factor:

This does not detect a loss of coolant, e.g. due to a leak in the cooling system. Instead, in the event of a loss of coolant, the temperature of the cooled components (electrical machine, electrical machine electronics, convenience charging electronics, range extender electrical machine and the range extender electrical machine electronics) will increase beyond the normal operating range. In this case, the power of the electric drive is reduced and a corresponding check control message is issued.

Service must check the following fault options during troubleshooting:

• Loss of coolant, e.g. caused by leak
• Coolant-air heat exchanger for heating systems blocked
• Electric fan not working or restricted function
• Coolant pump not working
• Coolant lines or connections damaged
• The component for cooling is faulty (electrical machine, electrical machine electronics, convenience charging electronics, range extender electrical machine, range extender electrical machine electronics)
