Functional description

As of terminal 30B ON and audio control panel switched on or in general as of terminal 15 ON, the controller can be used to select a function in the Central Information Display.

The controller reads in the button signals. The controller converts the signals to messages on the K-CAN and/or K-CAN2 (depending on the series and model year). The messages are processed by the head unit.

The central information display receives from the head unit the signal for display on an APIX data cable (see CENTRAL INFORMATION DISPLAY COMPONENT DESCRIPTION ).

The control button of the controller is always operated from the rest position and the control button always returns to this position when released.

In the basic version, the control button of the controller can be operated as follows:

The following selector buttons can be used to jump directly into the assigned menu:

Pressing a selector button twice or pressing it for longer than 2 seconds takes the user to the higher-level menu, e.g. for telephone to the phone book selection.

The "OPTION" selector button enables other settings in the last selected sub-menu.

When pressed, the "BACK" selector button returns the user to the last screen displayed.

The illustration below shows the controller for the example of the basic version (optional equipment SA663 "Radio BMW Professional").

The following selector keys can be used to jump directly to the assigned menu (the labelling depends on the series, model year, vehicle equipment and national-market version):

A quick push of a selector key will take the user directly to a specific sub-menu: E.g. with radio to the list of stations or with navigation to the navigation map.

Pressing a selector button twice or pressing it for longer than 2 seconds takes the user to the higher-level menu, e.g. for "Navigation" to the navigation input for new destinations. Here, the navigation map is only displayed again after selection using the control button.

The "OPTION" selector button enables other settings in the last selected sub-menu.

When pressed, the "BACK" selector button returns the user to the last screen displayed.

The 7 selector buttons are distributed over 3 buttons and 2 rocker switches.

All selector buttons return to the initial position after pressing.
