11 00... Engine oil change (B48AU0)

Attention! 

Carry out engine oil service only when the engine is at operating temperature.

It is essential to adhere to the exact capacities specified.

Overfilling the engine with engine oil will result in engine damage  .

Recycling: 

Catch and dispose of used oil in a suitable collecting vessel.

Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Open the oil filler cap.

REMOVAL: 

Open service flaps (1) in front underbody protection.

Remove oil drain plug (1).

Drain the engine oil.

Release the oil drain plug (1) on the hexagon head (2).

Drain the engine oil.

Undo oil filter cover (1) at hexagon head (2).

Installation: 

Check the freedom of movement of the non-return valve (1).

Replace oil filter (1).

Parts:  Oil filter (1).

Ensure that the oil filter (1) engages audibly.

Replace O-ring (2) and coat with engine oil.

Replace the screw with O-ring (1).

Parts:  Screw with O-ring (1).

Wet the O-ring (1) with engine oil.

The thread (1) must be cleaned with original BMW brake cleaner (part number: 83 19 2 365 214) before the installation!

The thread must be completely free of engine oil!

Attention! 

Risk of damage! 

The elastomers (O-rings) must not come in contact with the brake cleaner!

Allow the brake cleaner to fully dry; dry with compressed air if applicable.

Join the oil drain plug (1).

Mount the oil filter cover (1) and tighten at the hexagon head (2).

Tightening torque: 11 42 1AZ .

Tighten the oil drain plug (1) on the hexagon head (2).

Tightening torque 11 42 2AZ .

Replace the sealing ring.

Part:  Sealing ring.

Tighten oil drain plug (1) of oil sump.

Tightening torque: 11 13 1AZ .

Pour in ENGINE OIL .

Close oil filler cap.

Recommendation: Checking oil level:

• Vehicle horizontal
• Start engine and run at idle until oil pressure indicator light goes out
• Switch off the engine
• Read off engine oil level in instrument cluster or on control display

Check oil filter cover and oil drain plug of the oil sump for tightness.

Close service flaps (1) in front underbody protection.
