VDP PROGRAMMING ABORTS

SITUATION
The system may abort while programming the Vertical Dynamic Platform (VDP) control unit.
CAUSE
VDP control unit software
CORRECTION
Program with ISTA/P 3.58.0 (I level S15A-16-03-502) or a more recent version.
A part exchange does not provide a remedy and is therefore not necessary.
PROCEDURE
Always connect a BMW approved battery charger / power supply (SI B04 23 10 ).
Attention: Upon occurrence of programming abort in the VDP control unit, the control unit connector on the VDP control unit must be unplugged for at least 5 minutes.
- Perform diagnosis with the latest version of ISTA.NOTE: The following fault memory entries can be ignored:
S0407 "No communication with the VDP"
S0619 "Programming abort VDP"
- Program and encode the complete vehicle using ISTA/P 3.58.0 (I level S15A-16-03-502) or higher.
Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.

Covered under the terms of the BMW Certified Pre-Owned Program when necessary and performed in conjunction with the CPO covered repair.
