General notes on DSC MK60 and DSC MK60E5

The software of the control unit can be updated when required by authorized dealerships in compliance with strict security and procedure rules.

For Condition Based Service, the brake pad wear is determined by the DSC control unit. A brake pad wear sensor for the front brakes and a brake pad wear sensor for the rear brakes are fitted. In the M5 and M6 two brake pad wear sensors are fitted for the front brakes.

Faults in the steering column switch cluster (SZL) are sent across the F-CAN to the DSC control unit and stored in the DSC control unit. As of 12/2004, when encoding the DSC the coding data for the SZL is transferred across the F-CAN. The SZL is encoded in this way.

The control unit functions for the SZL can be called up via the DSC control unit.
