General Diagnosis Instructions To Customer-Initiated Software Update (KISA)

The customer-initiated software update  (KISA) function is used to update the control unit. Using a customer-initiated software update (KISA), known malfunctions or restrictions of the compatibility of mobile phones and similar issues will be rectified. Moreover, the usability of functions will be improved as well.

To do so, the most up-to-date software package for the customer-initiated software update (KISA) can be downloaded from the Internet (www.bmw.com/update).  Then, the software package is to be copied onto an appropriate USB stick. The USB stick is then to be connected to the USB port in the center console. The installation takes place when selecting KISA on the central information display.
