The coolant shutoff valve at the expansion tank shuts off the cooling circuit through the expansion tank. As a result, further potential for the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) exists.

The coolant thus reaches the required operating temperature quicker, which has a favorable effect on the exhaust emissions.
