Front Axle Support: Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 10 other vehicles, including the 2003 BMW 530i, 2003 BMW 525i, 2002 BMW 530i, 2002 BMW 525i, and 2001 BMW 530i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Installation is reverse of removal.
  2. Replace self-locking nuts and tighten to specification. Damaged threads in engine supports may be repaired with Helicoil thread inserts. Install inserts so they are flush with original thread. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Screw in track rods to measured or marked length. See Figure.
  4. Align front axle. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION.
