Functional description

There is a direct connection between the fuel consumption and the carbon dioxide emissions (CO₂ ). The less fuel consumption, the less carbon dioxide emissions. For particularly efficient engines the coolant expansion tank can be shut off.

The coolant shutoff valve is a solenoid valve. The engine control activates the coolant shutoff valve via a pulse-width modulated signal. The coolant shutoff valve closes upon activation.
