11 00... Service - engine oil (S65)

WARNING: Risk of scalding!
Carry out work on the vehicle only when wearing oil- and heat-resistant protective gloves incl. forearm protection, face guard and protective apron.
IMPORTANT: Perform engine oil service only when engine is at normal operating temperature (>70 °C engine oil temperature).
An exact engine oil level is only determined with the engine oil temperature ≥ 70 °C.
The engine oil temperature can be read out on the instrument cluster.
Observe the exact engine oil filling capacity.
Overfilling the engine with engine oil will result in engine damage  .
Inspection and drip-off times must be observed.
Oil level determination via on-board computer button will only detect changes of > +/- 0.5 litres.

Recycling: 

Catch and dispose of drained engine oil in a suitable collecting vessel.

Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

Pull off anti-twist lock (2).

WARNING: Risk of scalding!
NOTE: The remaining engine oil cannot drain into the oil sump until the oil filter cover has been released.

Release oil filter cap (1).

Tightening torque: 11 42 1AZ .

Installation note: 

Replace oil filter element and sealing rings.

Installation note: 

Fit anti-twist lock (2); this prevents the oil filter cover from being released.

Arrow (1) must point to the sensor for the intake air temperature.

Loosen screw plug (1) with nut and a long extension (2).

Tilt long extension (1) with nut and screw plug in direction of arrow.

Recycling: 

Catch and dispose of engine oil with suitable equipment.

Remove oil drain plug (1).

Compliance with a drip-off time of 10 minutes is absolutely mandatory.

Remove oil drain plug (2).

Compliance with a drip-off time of 2 minutes is absolutely mandatory.

Tightening torque: 11 13 1AZ .

Installation note: 

Replace sealing ring. 

Assemble engine.

Pour in engine oil. See ENGINE -- OPERATING FLUIDS .

Checking engine oil level:

Carry out distance reset by only using the diagnosis system.

Observe vehicle-specific scope of maintenance work.
