F15: Steering angle sensor
The steering angle sensor determines the steering wheel angle. The steering angle sensor converts a rotational movement into an electrical signal.
The steering angle sensor is able to detect a steering wheel angle of ±780°.
The steering angle sensor is connected to the Integrated Chassis Management (ICM) via a Private Controller Area Network.
The steering angle sensor redundantly transmits its signal via the private-CAN to the ICM control unit.
The steering angle sensor is supplied with voltage from the front passenger's side power distribution box with terminal 15N.
| Item | Explanation |
|---|---|
| 1 | Steering column switch cluster |
| 2 | Steering angle sensor |
| 3 | Retaining pin |
| 3 | Plug connection six-pin (4 pins used) |
NOTE:
In vehicles with Electronic Power Steering (EPS), the rotor position sensor is the steering angle sensor. The EPS issues the data. The Integrated Chassis Management (ICM) calculates the steering angle from the data.
