General notes on DSC 8Plus

The all-wheel drive system xDrive is fitted in the E60 all wheel drive model (known from E53 and E83). The system is based on a development of the DSC 8, the Dynamic Stability Control DSC 8Plus:

• The control unit has been completely revised and contains new functions (See also operating instructions):
  • Drive-off assistant
  • Brake standby
  • Dry braking
  • Increase in the brake pressure on fading
  • Soft stop
• The exterior of the hydraulic control unit is unchanged. The technology for valve activation has been revised to enable finer control.
• The DSC sensor contains a lateral acceleration sensor, a rotation-rate sensor and additionally a longitudinal acceleration sensor.
