Tire Pressure Monitor System REINITIALIZATION

NOTE: If a tire pressure has been adjusted, or a wheel or tire has been replaced, the TPM system must be reinitialized.
CAUTION: When driving with a compact spare tire (5-Series) or snow chains, DO NOT initialize the system.
NOTE: The initialization finishes during driving, which can be interrupted at any time. When driving resumes, the initialization is continued automatically.
  1. Set the tire pressure of all wheels to specification.
  2. Open the "i" menu of the Control Center.
  3. Select "VEHICLE SETTINGS" and press the controller.
  4. Select "FTM" and press the controller. See Fig 1.
  5. Start the engine, but do not drive off.
  6. Select "SET TIRE PRESSURE" and press the controller. See Fig 2.
  7. Select "YES" and press the controller.
  8. Drive vehicle. The message "INITIALIZING" will be displayed.
NOTE: Initialization is automatically completed during the drive. It takes a few minutes before the Flat Tire Monitor can detect and report a flat tire.
  9. When initialization is complete, "STATUS:ACTIVE" message will be displayed.
NOTE: If a flat tire is detected during initialization, a message appears on the Control Display.
