71 60 100 Removing and installing/replacing control unit for trailer coupling release

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD PROTECTION) .

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Release plastic nuts (1).

Feed out equipment holder (2) in direction of arrow.

Installation note: 

Make sure equipment holder (2) is correctly seated.

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Release retaining lug (2).

Pull control unit for trailer coupling release (3) upwards out of the equipment holder.

Installation note: 

Make sure control unit for trailer coupling release (3) if fitted correctly.

Replacement: 

Perform an initialization in the procedure or manual initialization via the button in the luggage compartment (see Operating Instructions). The manual initialization is described in the procedure.
