X3 TCU WILL NOT CODE USING CIP 13.X

X3 TCU will not code using CIP 13.x

E83 (X3) from 3/04 production

If the TCU needs replacing or a handset retrofit is performed the TCU cannot be coded.

TCU part number 84 11 6 946 993 coding index 4 cannot be coded with CIP 13.x

Follow the procedure as outlined below:

Check that the part number of the TCU (Telematics Control Unit) is 84 11 6 946 993.
Create a PuMA case and submit to the Body Electrical Group with the following information.
- Reason for coding the TCU
- Does the vehicle have a handset (CPT9000 or Bluetooth)?
- Error displayed on CIP screen when attempting to code TCU.
- What CIP version is being used?
- Print the PuMA Case and include it with the TCU

Please ensure that the part is sent FEDEX.
With the release of CIP 15.0 or later the TCU can now be coded. It is no longer necessary to ship the TCU to BMW.
