AFS Programming

SITUATION

Active Front Steering (AFS) control module cannot be programmed.

CAUSE

There can be a communication error between the two processors in the AFS control module. The following factors may also cause programming failures:

Programming interruption (tester is switched off during the programming process).
Low vehicle voltage (vehicle is not connected to the charger during programming).
Swapped control module (two different VIN numbers may be read).

CORRECTION

If the programming is interrupted or freezes while the AFS is being programmed, perform battery reset for 5 minutes. Then, subsequent programming can be initiated. AFS control module communication and programming have been optimized in 09/05.
