SUBJECT
Extended programming times / MCP mode error while programming
COMPLAINT
"Programming system could not be put into MCP mode" message is displayed during programming using CIP12.x. As a result, vehicle programming times are much longer.
CAUSE
A forced key cycle takes place (ignition off/on) during the programming process if CAS is part of the measures plan. This key cycle leads to the error message described.
MEASURE
Either:
- Ignore the error message and program/code the vehicle as usual. This programming takes place via the OBD socket and the MOST port. Vehicle does not get programmed through both interfaces simultaneously and will therefore result in longer programming times.
or:
- To avoid the additional programming time, program CAS only if it appears in the measures plan
using Special Measure before programming the rest of the modules.
- Start CIP
- Select Load SW
- Cancel update
- Select CAS and program via Special Measures.
- Follow onscreen instructions to remove and reinsert keys during programming.
- Exit CIP.
- Start CIP.
- Select Vehicle
- Perform update. MCP (Multi Channel Programming / parallel programming) should start.
The fault will be corrected in CIP13.0.
