12 71 530 Removing and installing / replacing control unit for Electronic Engine Power Control (EML) (M73)

IMPORTANT: Follow instructions for removal and installation of electronic control units. Refer to COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS

Unfasten screws.

Tightening torque, refer to ENGINE - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Remove cover from control unit box.

Control unit (1) (DME 1): disconnect plug connection and remove control unit from bracket.

Control unit (2) (DME 2): disconnect plug connection and remove control unit from bracket.

Control unit (3) for Electronic Transmission Control (EGS) Control unit (4) for Electronic Engine Power Control (EML)

For subsequent procedure during exchange of control units, refer to DIRECT IGNITION SYSTEM (DIS) .

Unfasten plug connection from all control units.

Remove control unit (4) from bracket.

Interrogate fault memory of control unit for Digital Motor Electronics (DME), check error messages in memory, rectify faults and clear fault memory.
