2 41... Checking components of starting motor (electric test)

Check power input, refer to STARTER SPECIFICATIONS of pull-in and holding windings in solenoid switch.

Check excitation winding, carbon-brush holder and open-coil armature winding for short circuit to earth.

Check armature for shorted turns - use a standard test probe.

Checking that excitation winding is not necessary with permanent magnets.
