SUBJECT

Oxygen Sensor Faults

SITUATION

Check engine light is illuminated and one or more of the following oxygen sensor fault codes is set in the Engine Control Module (DME):

  1. - Fault Code 5, 13, 10 and/or 18

CAUSE

Internal failure of the 02 sensor.

PROCEDURE

IT IS NO LONGER NECESSARY TO FAX THE PRINTOUTS OF THE OXYGEN SENSOR FAULT CODES TO THE TECHNICAL HOTLINE!

Until further notice Service Engineering needs a limited number of oxygen sensor sets as part of the failure analysis. If a vehicle is in the workshop with fault code 5, 13, 10 and/or 18 please replace both pre-catalyst oxygen sensors and label the sensors so that their bank location can be identified. Please do not forget to send all DIS/MoDiC printouts together with the "Warranty Parts Tag".

WARRANTY INFORMATION

The replacement of the second oxygen sensor will be reimbursed when it is claimed under the normal defect code for oxygen sensor replacement (11 78 02 96 00).
