Instrument Panels: Testing: Notes

WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.

NOTE: On all vehicles except 3-series coupe, convertible, 318ti, M3, M Coupe, M Roadster and Z3, testing of instrument cluster is accomplished using BMW Service Tester (Sun 2013 Engine Analyzer) and applicable BMW diagnostic software. Tester permits technician to activate components and monitor systems.
