Steering Gear: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Position steering gear and wheel in straight-ahead position. Align marks on pinion shaft shield and steering gear with steering shaft. If necessary, turn steering gear clockwise or counterclockwise against stop and then back by 1.7 turns until marks are aligned.
  2. Ensure pinch bolt is in groove of steering shaft. Replace banjo bolt sealing washers. Tighten all connections to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Fill system with NEW fluid. Bleed system. See HYDRAULIC SYSTEM BLEEDING  under LUBRICATION.
