Piston & Rod Assembly

  1. Install piston, connecting rod and bearings in corresponding cylinder. Connecting rods and bearing caps have numbers stamped on them. Ensure arrows on top of pistons point toward front of engine.
  2. Lubricate connecting rod bearings with oil. Install bearing caps, ensuring numbers match and are aligned. Install NEW, lightly oiled connecting rod bolts and tighten to 42 INCH lbs. (5 N.m). Using Torque Angle Gauge (11-2-110), tighten connecting rod bolts an additional 20-degree torque angle, and then another 80-degree torque angle.
NOTE: If piston and connecting rod assembly have been separated, install piston so arrow points toward right when connecting rod numbers are facing you.
