Fuel Injectors
Fuel injectors are divided into 2 groups. Group No. 1 consists of injectors for cylinders No. 1, 3 and 5. Group No. 2 consists of injectors for cylinders No. 2, 4 and 6. The DME/Motronic control unit uses a cylinder identification sensor, connected to No. 6 cylinder plug wire by an inductive pick-up, to identify injector group.
After engine has started (at about 600 RPM), fuel is injected once for every 720 degrees of crankshaft rotation. This allows the DME/Motronic control unit to activate each injector group (semi-sequential fuel injection) every working cycle (360 degrees). If the DME/Motronic control unit does not receive signal input from cylinder identification sensor, parallel fuel injection (all injectors spray) takes over.
