Oil Pump: Inspection: Notes

  1. Measure pump body-to-outer rotor clearance. Clearance should be 0.004-007" (0.10-0.18 mm). Measure pump body-to-outer (inner) rotor axial clearance. Clearance should be 0.002-0.003" (0.05-0.08 mm).
  2. Inspect oil pressure relief valve components for wear and damage. See Figure. Measure length of unloaded relief valve spring. Spring length should be 3.311" (84.1 mm).
