Active Check Control Unit Test

Active check control panel is located at bottom of instrument panel. Gauges use variable resistance sending units. A voltage limiter is not used.

When ignition switch is turned on, active check control alarm indicator should flash and BRAKE LIGHTS indicator should illuminate for test purposes. Fault monitoring should then begin.

Circuits must be in use to monitor low beams, rear lights or license lights. Brake lights are monitored only while brake pedal is depressed.

If a fault occurs, alarm indicator flashes appropriate LED indicator lights and panel light illuminates for 5 seconds. Depressing TEST button clears alarm indicator, leaving LED fault indicator on. To test unit, depress TEST button. LED fault indicators and panel lights should illuminate.

To conduct a voltage and resistance test disconnect connector from control unit. Test input signals at disconnected connector. See MAIN CONTROL UNIT VOLTAGE & RESISTANCE CHECKS  table below. See Fig 1.
