Valve Seats

  1. When replacing valve seat, remove old seat by turning out with cutting tool.
  2. When cutting bore for valve seat inserts, allow for shrink fit. Replacement (oversize) valve seats are available in .0078" (.200 mm) and .016" (.40 mm) outside diameters. See VALVE SEAT DIAMETER  table. The valve seat insert shrink fit specification is .006" (.15 mm).
  3. When installing new seat, heat cylinder head to about 122°F (50°C) and chill valve seat to about -238°F (-150°C). See VALVE SEAT DIAMETER  table.
