Pick-Up Coil Resistance Test

  1. Remove protective cap and disconnect lead from ignition control unit. Connect ohmmeter between pin 5 and 6 on lead and measure pick-up coil resistance. Reading should be 1100 +/- 10% ohms. If reading is incorrect, check connection at distributor. If okay, replace pick-up coil assembly.
  2. Connect Multimeter (M 02) and Oscilloscope (M 22) to ignition control unit plug (terminal 5 and 6) according to instructions. Pick-up coil should produce 1.3-2.0 volts alternating voltage while cranking engine.
