Hinges, Adjusting: Notes

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Condition

Adjustment dimensions. Refer to FRONT DOOR GAP DIMENSIONS .
Loosen and tighten the bolts between the door and the A-pillar with Torque Wrench, 6-50 Nm :V.A.G 1331 , Wrench - Door Adjusting :3320 and Wrench - Door Adjusting - Box Wrench :3320/2 .

Preliminary work for the forward/back adjustment at the hinge:

Upper hinge:

-- Remove the driver side instrument panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Front passenger side: remove the glove compartment. Refer to GLOVE COMPARTMENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Free up the insulation mat in the area of the hinges.

Lower hinge:

-- Remove the lower A-pillar trim panel. Refer to A-PILLAR LOWER TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- If equipped, remove the grommet.

Side adjustment at the hinge

-- Loosen the bolts -1- and -2-

-- Adjust the door to the center of the vehicle.

-- Tighten the bolts -1- and -2-.

Lengthwise Adjustment at the Hinge

-- Loosen the bolts -1-, -2-, -3- and -4-.

-- Adjust the door lengthwise.

-- Tighten the bolts -1-, -2-, -3- and -4-.
