Workshop findings:
After a control unit has been replaced, it is not possible to complete the replacement test plan (Figure 1).
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
On certain MY 23/24 vehicles, a temporary coding solution is in place during updates to backend systems.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Once backend updates are completed, normal replacement process will resume and this TSB will be retired.

Tip: Please read through all content below before proceeding. In an effort to reduce the complexity of the remote coding session, all points below should be strictly adhered to. Lack of preparation will result in delays and possibly re-scheduling of appointment.
Pre-requisites:
- MY 24 vehicle model and control module matches table above.
- Unrestricted internet access to ODIS tester.
- ODIS tester MUST be at the latest software level to support the remote coding session.
- Microsoft Teams installed on scan tool (Teams icon on desktop).
- Install Vector Remote Access Point onto scan tool.
- Technician can login to email on scan tool.
- Technician has a headset with microphone connected to scan tool.
- Technician availability of approximately 2 hours.
Using the steps below, prepare for the remote coding session:
Install Vector Remote Access Point:
- Copy and paste the link below into your web browser:
https://portal.vector.com/shared/55185888-4f70-4b99-beef-0cb2aff8e127
- VectorRemoteAccessPoint2.1.3.msi will be downloaded to the "Downloads" folder.
- Double click the file to install the tool.
Tip: If the file downloads with a ".txt" extension, you must delete the ".txt" extension for the tool to install.
- File must read exactly as: VectorRemoteA ccessPoint2.1.3. msi
To access the tool during the coding session:
- Search "vector" from the windows desktop search bar.
- Click the Vector icon and accept the prompt when the tool opens.
Install Microsoft Teams:
- Copy and paste the link below into your web browser

- Click "Download Teams" in upper right hand side of website, follow on screen prompts to complete install.
- Teams Icon should appear on the windows desktop
Schedule a coding session:
- Email the manufacturer at Audi-control-unit-initialization@audi.de
- Compose email as follows (Figure 3):
Subject:
- USA - Remote coding support - VIN
Body:
- VIN
- Module address affected.
- Is module on hand?
- When is module going to arrive?
- Contact name and phone number for the individual working on car.
- Dealer code.
Tip: Order module ahead of session if possible
- An Audi representative will contact you back at the email used to coordinate a coding session.
- Technician will receive an email invite which will include a link to the Microsoft Teams meeting.
Prepare for the coding session:
- Ensure a battery maintainer is connected.
- Ensure ODIS tester to be used is at latest SW level.
- New module is installed in the vehicle.
- Diagnostic head is hardwired between the vehicle and ODIS tester.
- ODIS tester hardwired to internet access point (if possible).
- Connect a wired headset with microphone for the coding session.
- DO NOT have ODIS started at this point.
Coding Session:
- Using the ODIS tester, connect to the Microsoft Teams session using the link from your email.
- Start the Vector access point (see figure 2 above).
- Copy/paste the Vector session ID and PW into teams chat window (red arrow figure 4).
- Audi representative will carry out initial coding of the module using the Vector remote access point.
- Once instructed, technician will start a new ODIS "Diagnosis" Session.
- Work with the Audi representative throughout the coding process.
- Once the remote coding session is complete, carry out any other subsequent work needed.
