Oil Temperature Sensor - G8-, Checking
General Description
The signal voltage of the Oil Temperature Sensor -G8- is continuously monitored by the Engine/Motor Control Module -J623-. If the signal voltage of the Oil Temperature Sensor -G8- is greater than a defined threshold value for a defined time period, the Engine/Motor Control Module -J623- detects an "electrical fault of the Oil Temperature Sensor -G8-, signal voltage out of range high" and the corresponding fault code is stored in the fault memory. This fault is typically caused by a short to battery, but depending on the wiring in the Engine/Motor Control Module -J623-, it can also be caused by an open circuit. If the signal voltage of the Oil Temperature Sensor -G8- is less than a defined threshold value for a defined time period, the Engine/Motor Control Module detects "electrical fault of the Oil Temperature Sensor -G8-, signal voltage out of range low" and the corresponding fault code is stored in the fault memory. This fault is typically caused by a short to ground, but depending on the wiring in the Engine/Motor Control Module -J623-, it can also be caused by an open circuit.
