Bevel Box, Installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Refer to the Parts Information for the grease for clutch plate splines.
Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:
- Tightening specifications. Refer to BEVEL BOX, TIGHTENING SPECIFICATION .
-- Grease the splines on the bevel box.
-- Insert the bevel box and press it all the way on the transmission.
If the tooth position is incorrect the bevel box cannot be pressed against the transmission. To do so turn the flange shaft.
If the tooth position is correct and it is guided centered, the bevel box slides against the transmission as far as the stop.
-- Tighten the bevel box. Refer to Figure.
-- Install the driveshaft. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .
-- Install the drive axle. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the drive axle heat shield. Refer to DRIVE AXLE HEAT SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the subframe with the steering gear. Refer to SUBFRAME WITH STEERING GEAR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Check the axle oil level in bevel box. Refer to GEAR OIL, CHECKING LEVEL .
Tightening Specifications
- Flange shaft bolt. Refer to -item ) OVERVIEW - BEVEL BOX - List Item: Bolt.
- Overview - drive axle. Refer to OVERVIEW - DRIVE AXLE .
