Steering Intermediate Shaft, Removing And Installing: Installing
Installation is the reverse of removal, with special attention to the following:
The threaded hole for the bolt must always be cleaned (for example, using a thread tap).
-- Make sure the rubber grommet fits correctly on the sealing piece -1- before installing the steering intermediate shaft -2-.
When installed, the arrow marking on the sealing piece -1- must be in the 6 o'clock position.
-- Install the steering intermediate shaft -3- on the steering column -1- as far as the stop and tighten the bolt -2-.
Pull on the steering intermediate shaft to make sure fits correctly. Then tighten the bolt -2-.
-- Tighten the bolt -2-.
-- Install the steering intermediate shaft -1- all the way onto the power steering gear -2- and tighten the bolt -arrow-.
Pull on the steering intermediate shaft to make sure fits correctly. Then tighten the bolt -arrow-.
-- Tighten the bolt -arrow-.
-- Lower the vehicle onto its wheels. Refer to RAISING AND LOWERING WITH OPEN AND CLOSED AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM .
