Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) Level, Checking: Procedure: Notes
Test Conditions
- The transmission must not be in the emergency running
- Move the vehicle onto a 4-column shop hoist or over a work pit so it is completely level.
- Transmission in "P".
- The parking brake button should be activated to close the electro-mechanical parking brake.
- Exhaust hose/-hoses of an exhaust extraction system connected.
- The A/C and the heater are off.
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester is connected.
- At the beginning of the test the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) temperature should not be higher than 30 °C - 35 °C (86 °F - 95 °F), because the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) temperature quickly raises, and a correct oil level is be determines at a temperature of 35 °C to 45 °C (95 °F - 113 °F) (hot climate countries maximum 50 °C (122 °F)).
CAUTION:
Danger of causing damage to the transmission.
- Use only the ATF made for the 0BK automatic transmission, which is available as a replacement part.
- Using other fluids can cause malfunctions or transmission failure.
- The ATF filler adapter must be clean. Do not mix the ATF with any other ATF types.
- Engine must not be started if only a small amount or no ATF is in the transmission after repair work or after significant ATF loss.
