No.	Control/Display Element	Function	Comment
1	Mode button	Press the Mode button repeatedly to select the corresponding selection menu.	The adjustment wheel menu selection and MODE button are combined in the Left Multifunction Buttons on Steering Wheel -E440- component and cannot be switched out independently.
2	Adjustment wheel menu selection	Turn the adjustment wheel to select the desired menu item. Press on the adjustment wheel to confirm the selection.
3	Navigation announcement volume control/repeat adjustment wheel	Turn the volume control to adjust the volume. After pressing, the last navigation system audio instruction is repeated.	The navigation announcement volume control/repeat adjustment wheel and talk button are combined in the Left Multifunction Buttons on Steering Wheel -E440- component and cannot be switched out independently.
4	Talk button	Switch the voice recognition system on and off via the talk button.	When the ignition is off, the Right Multifunction Buttons on Steering Wheel -E441- are functional.
5	Instrument cluster display	Depending on the buttons activated on the steering wheel, the radio station, CD title and telephone address book selection menus are displayed. Navigation information is shown on the display.

The Multifunction Steering Wheel Control Module -J453- measures the steering wheel button and adjustment wheel signals and converts these into digital information.
The digital information is transmitted to the Steering Column Electronics Control Module -J527- via the LIN bus wire in the Airbag Spiral Spring/Return Spring With Slip Ring -F138-.
The Steering Column Electronics Control Module -J527- transmits the information from the LIN bus to the CAN comfort.
The multifunction steering wheel information is transmitted via the Data Bus on Board Diagnostic Interface -J533- to the CAN infotainment or MOST bus, depending on equipment.
The infotainment control modules perform the corresponding functions.
