Hybrid Module, Installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Seal Installer - Drive Flange: T10143
- Ground Cable: VAS6558A/28
- If a new hybrid module is installed additional work is necessary. Refer to HYBRID MODULE - REPLACING .
Procedure:
-- With the help of a second technician, slowly lift the hybrid module from the storage area and turn it upward.
-- Replace the metal gasket ROTOR POSITION SENSOR AND TEMPERATURE SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING -item ) Seal on the flange.
-- Make sure the parking lock shaft is seated correctly.
-- Slowly mount the hybrid module onto the transmission using the shop crane. Make sure there is enough clearance for all components.
- Metal gasket and alignment sleeves in the correct position.
- Parking lock pins in the correct position.
- Parking lock lever in the correct position.
- Parking lock shaft must move freely.
Risk of Damaging the Input Shafts Due to Improper Installation.
- The clutch spline must align with the input shaft splines.
- Do not use force to install the hybrid module.
- The hybrid module must be flat before it is mounted.
Tip:
- If the clutch cannot be installed on the input shafts -1 and 2- the input shaft must be turned via the lower pinion shaft bolt -3-.
-- Insert the bolts on the flange and tighten in the following sequence: -1 through 25-.
Insulation Measurement
To make sure that no high-voltage components on the transmission are damaged an isolation measurement must be performed.
-- Lock the : VAS6558A/28 -A- on the connector housing and secure the terminal on the housing -arrow 4-.
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester with the vehicle and start the Diagnostic mode.

-- Follow the instruction on the display.
-- Install the high-voltage cables. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .
-- Replace the selector shaft seal. Refer to SELECTOR SHAFT SEAL, REPLACING .
-- Install the parking lock lever.
-- Install the high-voltage cables. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .
Vehicles with a Pressed in Cap.
-- Use the : T10143 to drive the lower cap in flush.
Vehicles with a Bolted Cap:
-- Installing the cap. Refer to BOLTED CAP, REPLACING .
All Vehicles:
-- Replace the right seal. Refer to LEFT SEAL, REPLACING .
-- Secure the transmission on the : T40173 .
-- Remove the : VW309A and the mounts from the transmission.
-- Install the transmission fluid cooler.
-- Fill the transmission fluid. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID, DRAINING AND FILLING .
-- Install the transmission. Refer to TRANSMISSION, INSTALLING .
Recalibration
-- After working on the hybrid module a recalibration must be performed.
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester with the vehicle and start the Diagnostic mode.
