  1. Sunroof (with Solar Cells -C20-)
    • Only in vehicles with this optional equipment
    • Check the function of the -C20-, refer to SUNROOF SOLAR PANEL .
    • Removing and installing, refer to .
    • Among other things, the activation and operation of the Fresh Air Blower -V2- by the Fresh Air Blower Control Module -J126- depends on the sunlight, the Multi Media Interface (MMI) setting, and the Climatronic Control Module -J255- front Air Conditioning (A/C) display control head, refer to SUNROOF SOLAR PANEL and the Operating Instructions.
  2. Windshield Defogger -Z2-
    • Only in vehicles with this optional equipment
    • Activation occurs via the Windshield Defogger Control Module -J505-.
    • The Windshield Defogger Control Module -J505- is activated by the front A/C display control head, the Climatronic Control Module -J255- via the data bus. For this purpose, the request is first sent via the data bus to the Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface -J533- and is then relayed to the Comfort System Central Control Module -J393-, refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester and in the "Guided Fault Finding" function and, refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram(s).
    • Removing and installing, refer to WINDSHIELD DEFOGGER CONTROL MODULE -J505-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
    • Windshield removing and Installing, refer to WINDSHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
  3. Fresh Air Intake with Intake Grille
    • Check cowl panel trim with the cover for the fresh air intake for correct installation and damage. Check the seals between the fresh air intake cover, the cowl panel trim and the window cross member for damage and proper fit. This seals prevent water from entering between window cross member and cover and running into A/C unit air intake shroud, refer to OVERVIEW - PLENUM CHAMBER COVER .
    • Checking, and removing and installing, refer to FRESH AIR INTAKE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Make sure the intake grille fits correctly. The intake grille prevents foreign objects such as leaves from getting into the A/C intake shroud.
    • Depending on the version, for some countries with high dust levels (for example China), a filter is installed instead of intake air grille, which prevents dust and sand from entering the fresh air blower, refer to FRESH AIR INTAKE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING and the Parts Information.
  4. Air Quality Sensor -G238- with Humidity Sensor In Fresh Air Intake Duct -G657-
  5. Information Label
  6. Heater Coolant Shut-Off Valve -N279-

-- The Heater Coolant Shut-Off Valve -N279- is currently only installed in vehicles with a "parking heater", In vehicles with a parking heater, it assumes the function of the Coolant Shut-Off Valve -N82-.

  7. Coolant Recirculation Pump -V50-
    • The Coolant Recirculation Pump -V50- is currently not installed in all vehicles.
    • Checking, refer to A/C SYSTEM TEMPERATURE DOOR HEAT OUTPUT ACTIVATION, CHECKING
    • Function, refer to Coolant Recirculation Pump -V50-, FUNCTION
    • Refer to INCORPORATION OF A/C SYSTEM INTO COOLANT CIRCUIT .
      NOTE:

The Coolant Recirculation Pump -V50- can be installed in different locations. On most vehicles it is installed in the plenum chamber as shown in the illustration. For vehicles with a high voltage system (hybrid vehicles) it is located between the plenum chamber bulkhead and the engine.

The activation of the Coolant Recirculation Pump -V50- varies. For most vehicles, the Climatronic Control Module -J255- is activated directly by the front Climatronic control module A/C display and control head. For vehicles with the high voltage system (hybrid vehicles) the activation is carried out according to the requirements of the Climatronic Control Module -J255- via the respective engine control module, refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram(s).

  8. Coolant Shut-Off Valve -N82-
  9. Parking Heater with the Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J364-
  10. Coolant Fan -V7- and Coolant Fan 2 -V177-
    • Depending on vehicle equipment, there are different versions of the Coolant Fan -V7- and Coolant Fan 2 -V177- are installed, refer to the Parts Information.
    • The request to switch on the Coolant Fan -V7- / Coolant Fan 2 -V177- is sent by the front A/C display control head, the Climatronic Control Module -J255-, via the data bus to the Engine Control Module (ECM). The ECM activates the fans or fan (coolant fan -V7- and coolant fan 2 -V177-) directly or via the Coolant Fan Control Module -J293-, refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram(s).
    • Check the activation of the coolant fans by the Climatronic Control Module -J255- see Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
    • Relevant ECM switches for example the Coolant Fan -V7- and Coolant Fan 2 -V177- (directly or via the Coolant Fan Control Module -J293-) to exactly the required output (depending on the engine type), refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function and, refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram(s).
  11. Outside Air Temperature Sensor -G17-
    • The measured value of the Outside Air Temperature Sensor -G17- is evaluated by the Vehicle Electrical System Control Module -J519- and is transmitted via the data bus to the Climatronic Control Module -J255- front A/C display control head, refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function and, refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram(s).
    • Removing and installing, refer to OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR -G17-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
  12. Plenum Chamber Water Drains
